So in the case of the cursed character, she could create a cover for it or keep it in one place face down in place at all times, while still retaining the ability to verbally communicate through it or listen in on conversations. For the storage example, we would permit this (within reason, of course). But because the mirrors are operated by the faerie queen, anything stored may be subject to trolling tampering by the fae.
